Marlins Outfielder Christian Yelich has 790 The Ticket’s
Brendan Tobin eating crow… literally at GameTime!
Miami, FL. (January 23rd, 2017) – South Florida’s premier sports station 790 The Ticket (WAXY-AM), an Entercom radio station and home of the Miami Heat, presents Crowbin: A Night of Shock and Caw on Wednesday February 8th at GameTime at Sunset Place. GameTime is located at The Shops at Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Dr. #330 South Miami, FL 33143.
Mid-Day host Brendan Tobin will eat a crow after boldly stating this past August that Miami Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich had “no shot” at finishing the 2016 season with 20 home runs. And he would “literally eat crow” should the outfielder accomplish the feat. As Yelich got closer to his 20th home run, social media began to chirp with crow recipes for Tobin. On Sept 9th Yelich hit a solo homer against the Washington Nationals for his 20th home run of the 2016 season. Yelich had never hit more than nine home runs in a season prior to 2016. He finished the season with 21 homers. Tobin finished the season with the task of eating a crow looming over him.
Tobin stated, “The listeners have been hounding us for months. They thought I would duck out of the bet. But I’m a man of my word and I pay my bets. I’m going to sit down, tuck a napkin into my shirt and eat every single piece of that rancid bird.”
Tobin tweeted at Yelich in January: “You coming to see me eat this dirty bird or what?” To which the outfielder responded: “You know I wouldn’t miss that. When’s it going down?”
The Ticket, in partnership with GameTime Miami, will host The Crowdown on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at 6:00pm, with Yelich in attendance. The Ticket’s afternoon show will broadcast live from the event beginning at 4:00pm and GameTime Miami will be offering 50% off any individual drinks from 4:00-8:00pm. The event is open to the public and guests are encouraged to arrive early.
